Register to join your California trainers from Britannica, Gale, PebbleGo, ProQuest, and TeachingBooks for a peek at how you can engage, excite, and empower your K-12 student-aged patrons in the school work they are already doing—no matter where they are. This 90-minute session will be segmented into two parts. The first half of this training will focus on resources for elementary age patrons, and the second half will focus on resources to support secondary students, particularly with their school research needs.
This is a 90-minute overview, but there will be multiple 30-minute deeper dives on April 12 and the week of April 15-19. See full list at https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/embed?src=bmu0gh4df50p9pmefltoalvsp0@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/Los_Angeles .
Presenters:
Mary Beth Barber: Mary Beth has spent more than 20 years working for the State of California at educational and cultural agencies in program management and communications. She's been an active arts nonprofit volunteer, a local-control parent advisor for her child's school district, and is currently a reviewer for the California Young Readers Medal program. She was a member of the arts-education framework advisory committee for the state's education department in 2019, and occasionally teaches advanced acting for youth for after-school programs as a professional teaching artist for theatre and media arts.
Megan Segle: As the newest member of the team, Megan tries to make it as easy as possible to connect students and educators to the program’s rich and diverse online educational content. She brings nearly ten years of experience as a librarian in K-12 schools, public libraries, and academic libraries. Megan is an active volunteer in her community, is on the board of her local elementary school Parent Teacher Group, and is a current member of the CDE Recommended Literature List committee at the California Department of Education.
This session will also include professional trainers from the five providers for these children and youth online resources. See the full team at Meet Your Compass Trainers.
