Working in libraries can be a very rewarding career. Whether you have
always wanted to work in libraries, transitioned to libraries as a second career path, or ended up in libraries by chance and realized you loved it, there are many pathways of success within libraries.

A key factor to retention and work satisfaction is actively developing your career and positioning yourself for success. In this session, we will discuss how to foster a growth mindset and the factors that will supercharge your library career, including mentorships and networking.

Presenter Info: Sonia Alcántara-Antoine is the CEO of Baltimore County Public Library (MD) and is the president of the Public Library Association. She was named as one of the Top 100 Women in Maryland. Previously she was director of Newport News Public Library (VA). Sonia is an American Library Association Spectrum Scholar, and holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Florida State University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Old Dominion University.
