In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of collection development for kids and teens. Youth collection expert Julie Jurgens will cover the wide variety of formats available for these audiences and special considerations for curating and maintaining these collections. You’ll also learn about how to prepare for and handle material challenges and how to make sure your collection development policy provides adequate support for these situations.
This webinar is part of the Collection Development Crash Course series.

- Have a list of resources to consult, including where to find reviews and other collection support tools.
- Feel empowered to advocate for materials for youth and teens
Julie Jurgens has worked in libraries for over 16 years, and has worked with children and their families for over 20. In her current workplace she supervises collection development for children birth-6th grade, including ordering, weeding, and marketing.
