Two-day course | May 28 and 29, 2026 | 8:00 am - 2:00 pm | Attendance of both sessions is required
This fast-paced class combines presentation and discussion with practical, real-life exercises. You develop the core parts of a proposal for your own organization, ready to polish, so you can submit to a funder. Connect with colleagues while you’re guided by a trainer through the ins and outs of creating successful grant proposals.
This training is perfect for those new to grant proposal development and professionals looking for a refresher. Maybe you don’t plan to write grant proposals but you need to know enough so you can effectively hire and supervise someone else to do the work. This is the class for you.
Learning Objectives:
In this two-day training, learn how to create a successful grant proposal:
- Write a data-based description of the problem your nonprofit cares about
- Define specific, measurable outcomes and demonstrate that your organization can deliver them
- Build a basic, doable evaluation plan (and know when to call in an expert)
- Outline a bulletproof budget
- Plan ahead for future funding to sustain your program
- Understand the grant proposal review process
- Identify which tools help you find grantmakers that are right for you.
NOTE: If you register for this training you are expected to attend all sessions. To get the very most from this experience, please plan to devote time between the online sessions to complete the exercises and reading.
