Libraries have been misunderstood and devalued throughout its history, impacting budgets and stakeholder support. Library’s themselves must reframe their thought process in representing the library and speak other people’s language to provide better understanding of what libraries do. To change perspective of value, one has to learn tactics to change minds.
This webinar will discuss how language is used and how it can change the value of the library by retraining word choice and learn how to advocate for your library.
As a result of this program, attendees will:
· Define the value of the library in layman's terms through teaching
· Identify differences of persuasion, argument, and presentation
· Understand terms and storytelling methods that bring credibility and humanity
· Become well versed in recognizing boundaries and consequences
