Join the California History Section for a live webinar on A Place at the Nayarit: How a Mexican Restaurant Nourished a Community on Wednesday, June 25, at 4:00 PM!

Join author and historian Natalia Molina in conversation with Sue Tyson, Head of the California History Section at the California State Library, as she shares the story behind A Place at the Nayarit: How a Mexican Restaurant Nourished a Community. This heartfelt book traces how Molina’s grandmother, Doña Natalia Barraza, built more than just a restaurant in Echo Park in 1951 — she created a vital community hub where immigrants and locals alike found connection, support, and a sense of belonging. Through personal stories of restaurant workers and patrons, Molina highlights the enduring power of community, resilience, and cultural pride. The event is free but requires registration.

This event will be recorded and made available on the California State Library YouTube channel. A link will be emailed to all registrants.
