Whether you serve users in a public community, in a school, or at a college or university, demonstrating the value of your library and your expertise is crucial. This fully self-paced course offers practical strategies for public librarians to showcase community impact, school librarians to highlight contributions to student learning and educational initiatives, and academic librarians to articulate their role in research and student success.
Recognizing the staffing and budget realities unique to each library type, this course equips you with the tools to effectively communicate your contributions and advocate for your library’s vital role. You’ll learn how to define and refine your library identity, collect and present relevant data, craft compelling stories for diverse stakeholders, and foster essential collaborations within your specific context.
How will this course be relevant to me in my specific library type? Great question. This course is designed with multiple library types in mind. The core content is broadly applicable, with tailored resources, assignments, and discussion boards for your library type. You’ll participate in cohorts for public libraries, school libraries, and college or university libraries, allowing you to crowdsource challenges, learn from peers, and share ideas within your context.
