Time Commitment: 4.5 hours
Learn engaging and effective teaching methods to help students develop critical information literacy skills.
In the age of AI, deep fakes, and misinformation, the need for critical information literacy is at an all-time high. In this half-day online course and 3-week asynchronous workshop, you will learn the foundations of information literacy and how to talk confidently about context, reputability, and research. You will learn several different teaching methods to help engage students in identifying mis- and disinformation. You will also have the opportunity to create lesson plans and receive feedback from peers and a facilitator before you leave this course.
This course includes one half-day of live, online presentations from an expert speaker, as well as three weeks of a guided asynchronous workshop with facilitated peer cohorts and assignments. In this workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to practice what you’ve learned through prompted activities, share and crowdsource issues with peers, and get feedback from peers and your facilitator.
