March 6 - April 2, 2023 | Four-week course

Combining the latest research and day-to-day experiences from a variety of library settings, this course provides an in-depth look at media mentorship and how to support families with young children in the digital age. Topics covered will include early literacy, family engagement, diversity, and the digital divide. Coursework and discussions will cover the three types of media mentorship: media advisory and evaluation, programming (storytime) and supported access to curated content.

Presented by: Annisha Jeffries is the Youth Services Department manager at the Cleveland Public Library. She has over 24 years of experience working in libraries, assisting youth and their families. System-wide responsibilities include leading monthly professional advancement meetings and knowledge sharing with the systems youth services staff. She holds a BS in Education from Cleveland State University and MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a 2000 American Library Association Spectrum Scholarship recipient and has served on various selection committees, including the 2018 Caldecott Committee, and was the Chair of the 2021 Caldecott Committee. Currently, she is the Chair of the Norman A Sugarman Children’s Biography Award.
