June 5 - July 2, 2023 | Four-week course

Telling the library story is more than simply communicating accomplishments. It’s about a way of sharing the impact the library has on its users in a way that blends data with meaningful and personal stories. This course will walk you through an approach that engages your user community via outreach activities tied to your organizational goals and values. In addition, you will apply practical methods for sharing your message such as identifying your audiences and tailoring content in a way that resonates with different stakeholders. As part of this course, participants will:

  • Answer specific questions about what’s important to highlight as part of the library story
  • Develop practical strategies to work with user communities in defining library impact
  • Explore approaches to outreach that further institutional goals and values
  • Create a way to share data in a way that combines quantitative and qualitative elements

Instructor, Cinthya Ippoliti, is the Auraria Library University Librarian and Director. In that role, she provides direct administrative leadership for library services, spaces, partnerships, and programming on the tri-institutional Auraria Campus, which serves the University of Colorado, Denver; Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Community College of Denver. In collaboration with the Library’s senior management team, she sets the library’s strategic vision to develop new services, foster creativity and collaboration, and provide professional development and mentorship for faculty, staff, and student assistants. Previously, Cinthya served as the Associate Dean for Research and Learning Services at the Oklahoma State University libraries, and Head of Teaching and Learning at the University of Maryland libraries. She is a graduate of the Leading Change Institute and the Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians.
