 is one-day, hands-on workshop taught by UCLA Library’s Book and Paper Co
 nservator, Nicole Alvarado. Participants will spend the first hour and a h
 alf learning about proper book handling procedures and examining bound mat
 erials. This will be followed by hands-on practice performing basic repair
 s such as hinge repair, minor spine repair, tear repairs, and tipping-in l
 oose pages.Due to the hands-on nature of the workshop, attendance is limit

  Main Library does not open until 12pm on Fridays, but Library Security wi
 ll allow attendees to enter at the Grove Street entrance.The SFPL Main Lib
 rary is accessible by BART (Civic Center Station) and Muni. Parking is ava
 ilable at the Civic Center Garage. The daily rate is $30. Street parking i
 s generally not available.Carpooling is encouraged if you are driving.Trav
 el Reimbursement InformationCALL will reimburse travel by personal vehi
 cle or public transit for library workers traveling 50 miles roundtrip o
 r more.Reimbursements are not allowed when using government or city cars.
 Reimbursement for mileage is 72.5 cents per mile.Public transit expens
 es will be reimbursed when they represent a reasonable and cost-effecti
 ve means of travel. Reimbursement is limited to standard fares and does
