 ny Peck will help you to acquire the knowledge and skills to be more comfo
 rtable and confident about providing fundamental childrenâ€™s services. As
  a result of the course you will be able to:\r\n	Conduct a reference inter
 view to match grade-appropriate resources with a childâ€™s information nee
 d\r\n	Determine childrenâ€™s reading interests, including those of relucta
 nt readers, and find books to meet those interests\r\n	Plan entertaining p
 rograms that attract families to the library\r\n	Promote books and reading
  through programs and library tours\r\nWhether you are new or not-so-new t
 o childrenâ€™s services, youâ€™ll come away with resources, best practices
 , and useful tips and techniques that can be applied immediately in your l
 ibrary.\r\nCourse Description:Â During the course, you will have weekly re
 adings, do practical assignments, and participate in discussions to share 
 ideas and experiences. In Weeks 3 and 4, we will schedule two optional onl
 ine meetings. These meetings are a great way to connect, ask questions, an
 d explore the course material in a friendly, informal environment. Those w
 ho cannot participate in person will be able to listen to the archived rec

 resources for programs and tours\r\n	\r\n	\r\nTime Required:Â To complete 
 this course, you can expect to spend 2Â½ hours per week, for a total of 10
  course hours. Each weekâ€™s module contains readings, discussions, and as
 signment options. You can choose the options most relevant to your work an
 d interests. Although you can work on each module at your own pace, at any
  hour of the day or night, it is recommended that you complete each weekâ€
 ™s work within that week to stay in sync with other learners.\r\nWho Shoul
 d Take This Course:Â Any library staff members who provide services to chi
 ldren, especially new childrenâ€™s librarians or other library staff who a
 re relatively new to serving children. This course is particularly valuabl
 e for support staff whose work includes childrenâ€™s services responsibili
 ties.\r\nAfter the official end date for the course, the instructor will b
 e available for limited consultation and support for two more weeks, and t
 he course material will stay up for an additional two weeks after that. Th
 ese extra weeks give those who have fallen behind time to work independent
